Calon mahasiswa dapat memulai perjalanan dengan mengunjungi portal resmi pendaftaran atau datang langsung ke sekretariat PMB di kampus. Pada tahap ini, pendaftar akan mengisi formulir identitas, memilih program studi yang diminati, dan mendapatkan informasi lengkap mengenai profil lulusan serta peluang karier di masa depan.
Setelah melakukan pendaftaran awal, calon mahasiswa diwajibkan mengunggah atau menyerahkan dokumen pendukung. Dokumen ini biasanya mencakup fotokopi ijazah atau surat keterangan lulus, pas foto terbaru, serta dokumen identitas diri. Verifikasi dokumen dilakukan secara teliti untuk memastikan seluruh pendaftar memenuhi kriteria dasar akademik.
Politeknik IDI menerapkan standar seleksi yang terukur untuk melihat potensi akademik dan minat bakat pendaftar.
Hasil seleksi akan diumumkan melalui laman resmi kampus dan papan pengumuman. Calon mahasiswa yang dinyatakan lulus adalah mereka yang berhasil memenuhi ambang batas nilai seleksi dan dinilai memiliki kualifikasi yang sesuai dengan visi Politeknik IDI.
Tahap akhir dari proses ini adalah pendaftaran ulang. Calon mahasiswa akan menyelesaikan administrasi keuangan dan melakukan registrasi NIM (Nomor Induk Mahasiswa). Setelah resmi menjadi mahasiswa, mereka akan mengikuti rangkaian Pengenalan Kehidupan Kampus bagi Mahasiswa Baru (PKKMB) untuk beradaptasi dengan lingkungan perkuliahan, laboratorium, dan budaya kerja industri.
Politeknik Idi merupakan perguruan tinggi yang diusulkan oleh Yayasan Pendidikan Ie Dhit Maju Bersama mendapat dukungan sepenuhnya dari Pemerintahan Kabupaten Aceh Timur, dukungan stakeholder dan dukungan dari masyarakat sekitar.
